CMEE

The Children’s Museum of the East End (CMEE) started in Amaganset in 1997. It was Lucy Muhlfeld Kazickas, mother of four, who was determined to create an educational indoor place for children on the East End of Long Island. Lucy was soon joined by six more mothers ready to promote learning through play for children and families in their community. The inspiration came from the exciting experiences at the children’s museums that were opening around the country. Thanks to the seven mothers a new organization that would teach children about the East End and world around them was launched. CMEE opened in Bridgehampton in 2005 with over 7,000 square feet of exhibition and program space, to this day partnering with other arts and social service organizations to address issues of the community.

In 2012 CMEE honored Lucy Muhlfeld Kazickas by dedicating the 200-foot boardwalk leading to the front door of the Museum as "Lucy's Way".
