Other Foundations
In 1991, Dr. J. P. Kazickas was determined to introduce his homeland Lithuania, a newly independent country, to as many people of the World as he could. During a session at the United Nations, Joseph Kazickas met Maria Pia Fanfari, a wife of the most distinguished Italian politician, a founder of "Together For Peace" foundation, who later came to Vilnius with humanitarian aid. Dr. Kazickas looked for aid from foundations in the United States like The Rockefeller Brothers Fund, the Pew Charitable Trust, the Heritage Foundation, the Soros Open Society Fund. Joseph Kazickas was able to bring the representative of the Rockefeller and Pew Foundations to Lithuania, and participated in getting the George Soros Fund to Lithuania. Later on, while helping computerize secondary schools of Lithuania, Jurate Kazickas brought Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation's worldwide library initiative, and Lithuania received $ 13 million of software for its libraries.
