International Christmas Charity Bazaar
Since 2003 International Christmas Charity Bazaar (ICCB), organized by the International Women’s Association of Vilnius (IWAV) in cooperation with the international diplomatic and business communities and Lithuanian friends, has become the unofficial start to the Christmas season.
All the organizers of the Christmas Bazaar are volunteers, who commit to the requirement that all money collected on the day of the Bazaar and related activities go directly to the beneficiaries. The 2014 event was attended by more than 5,000 visitors and raised more than 260,000 Litas for 8 beneficiary organizations. Since 2003 altogether the ICCB has raised more than 3 million Litas on behalf of Lithuanian organisations serving children, women and the elderly in particular need.
Hundreds of contributors help the organisers prepare hand-made crafts, souvenirs and Christmas treats for the Bazaar. Visitors to the event can participate in a lottery to win exciting prizes donated by sponsors, listen to Christmas music in a live concert and enjoy special activities for children as they search for unusual and traditional gifts from around the world.
2015 Bazaar is taking place under the kind patronage of Mrs. Janina Butkevičienė and honorable ambassador Mrs. Alma Adamkienė, former First Lady of Lithuania. The 2015 selected beneficiaries are: Vilnius Special Nursery - Kindergarten Čiauškutis, Vilnius Antakalnis children social care house, Nongovernment Kapčiamiestis care house, Children and Youth day center Mūsų nameliai, Nongovernment kindergarden Nendrė, Kupiškis Alizava school, Charity foundation Mothers union, Lithuanian Redcross (Šiauliai unit), Children’s Hospital, Affiliate of Vilnius University Hospital Santariškių klinikos, Public Institution Teatriukas in Molėtai, Charity foundation Vilties centras, Visaginas Children Support Centre, Social care center Židinys in Lazdijai.
