LEC

Lithuanian Educational Council of the USA (LEC) nurtures Lithuanian heritage by supporting Lithuanian Heritage Schools, teachers, and their students in the U.S.

LEC is one of the Lithuanian-American Community, Inc.'s (LAC) work areas. Since 1951 LAC has sought to preserve the Lithuanian cultural identity for future generations. It seeks, welcomes, and involves in its activities all individuals of Lithuanian descent as well as their non-Lithuanian spouses.

The Lithuanian Educational Council of the USA also:

  • assists Lithuanian Heritage Schools with support from the Lithuanian Foundation
  • organizes workshops and seminars for teachers of Lithuanian language and culture
  • assists Lithuanian Heritage Schools with textbooks, curricula, and other educational materials
  • honors publicly outstanding teachers of Lithuanian language and culture in the US
  • offers information about university-level courses, summer courses, and scholarships.

In 2015-2016 there were 38 Lithuanian Heritage Schools in US, that served 2036 students with 522 teachers, assistants and administrators.

Kazickas Family Foundation has been supporting the Lithuanian Educational Council of the USA since 2012.
