Blessed Michael Sopocko Hospice provides professional care to people with cancer and other life-limiting illness in the final stages. In 2016 Kazickas Family Foundation was introduced to hospice's honorable work and helped its causes with $5,000 funds. This year one of the Joseph and Alexandra Kazickas' grandchildren was inspired by the hospice's dedicated staff and purpose and offered to help as well.
John Kazickas visited Blessed Michael Sopocko Hospice during his trip to Lithuania and was honored to meet sister Michaela Rak who, together with her dedicated staff, are committed to those facing such a difficult time.
"We believe that everyone has the right to live with dignity until the last minute and part from life surrounded by love, care and respect" - is the motto hospice's dedicated staff lives by.
All services at the Blessed Michael Sopocko Hospice are provided for free to all patients regardless of race, age, beliefs or financial status. Special care is provided according to the current state of the patient's health, either palliative care at home or care in the hospice.
Currently Blessed Michael Sopocko Hospice is the only hospice in Lithuania providing full free of charge palliative care for patients till they part from life. Sister Michaela Rak and staff are planning to build a hospice wing for terminally ill children and their families, as well as provide special care services in children's homes. It's work is funded by many generous individuals and organizations and over 40 volunteers dedicate their time and talents to the patients and their families.
