Last Saturday, June 2nd, Lithuanian Educational Council of USA invited educators from the Lithuanian schools in the US and policy makers and administrators from Lithuania to New York for a discussion on issues Lithuanian schools in the US face.
Aukse Motto, chair of Lithuanian Educational Council of USA introduced the guests to participants gathered at the Lithuanian Alliance of America historical building:
- Virginija Rinkeviciene, head of Division of Lithuanians Living Abroad at the Ministry of Education and Science of Lithuania
- Daiva Sutinyte, director of the Education Exchanges Support Foundation
- Renata Narbutaite, project coordinator at the Education Exchanges Support Foundation
- Linas Repecka, project specialist at the Education Exchanges Support Foundation
- Vaidas Daciola ir Egle Salnaite, Vytautas Magnus University, "World Lithuanian University - a platform designed for the Lithuanian diaspora."
- Sigutė Simkuviene-Rosen, president of the Lithuanian Community in the US
- Neila Baumiliene, director of the Kazickas Family Foundation NY office
After introducing their work areas guests invited all for discussion. Issues with Lithuanian students internships at the Lithuanian schools in the US, future of the Lithuanian language level tests, opportunities in Lithuania for Lithuanian heritage students living in America and productive cooperation were discussed.
During the meeting Virginija Rinkeviciene on behalf of Jurgita Petrauskiene, Minister of the Ministry of Education and Science of Lithuania, presented the Letter of Gratitude to the Kazickas Family Foundation for its benevolent cooperation and assistance in building Lithuanian Language Testing System according to Common European Framework of Reference for Language. Foundation's NY office director Neila Baumiliene accepted the letter on the Kazickas family behalf.
