On February 13th, Neila Baumiliene, Director of Kazickas Family Foundation New York office, and Arminas Vareika, Director of "Basketball Power" program, met with Police Commissioner General of Lithuania Linas Pernavas.
The purpose of the meeting was to introduce Foundation's work, social programs it supports in Lithuania and social issues it addresses, such as violence against children, trafficking in youth to commit crimes, engaging youth from the outskirts of society and improving police reputation in Lithuania. During an hour long meeting Police community officials' involvement in "Basketball Power" work was discussed, as well as Police Basketball Team's participation in "Basketball Power" end of season event in June.
Specific incidents and investigations involving trafficking in youth to commit crimes in Western Europe, where Commissioner's personal involvement is crucial, were brought up as well. It was agreed to work together directly while dealing with issues involving children safety and criminal elements which foundation comes across through its supported organizations.
