Opera Support Foundation
The Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre (LNOBT) Support Foundation "The Lyre of Orpheus" was created in 2003. In the last 12 years fund collected and distributed over 500,000LT.
22 scholarships have been distributed to LNOBT opera students, 10 soloists received financial help with their internships.
LNOBT experienced the importance of the funds while producing well known operas, such as "Don Carlo", "Eugene Onegin", "Carmen", "Lithuanians", "Otello" and others.
With a help of "the Lyre of Orpheus" funds LNOBT orchestra purchased eight wind-instruments and chairs, choir's women's concert attire. It also helped with a publishing of a book about LNOBT conductor J. Aleksas and DVD recordings of opera "the Jewess."
The Foundation also helped to fund internships abroad of well known soloists, such as Vilma Moncyte, Edmundas Seilius, Vaidas Vysniauskas and many more.
Every year since 2009 Opera Foundation gives away a prize during "Operos Švyturys" awards to the best supporting role and best new artist.
It also helped to bring many foreign professional choreographers to build up local ballet dancers' experience and talent.
Opera Foundation always did and always will distribute all received funds to young talents' development, future opera soloists', ballet dancers' and musicians' scholarships and internships.
