St. John's Children Celebrate Its 20th Anniversary
08/27/2016

Foster Home "St. John's Children" has been supported by the Kazickas Family Foundation for the last four years. On August 13th, the Home celebrated its 20th anniversary.

Two decades ago, St. John's brothers and couple volunteers, took a basketball and left for Vilnius city streets to greet street boys and offer them shelter and food. Along with the brothers, there were teachers, social workers and couple Frenchmen who believed in the boys' bright future. Couple farmsteads to house the boys and their teachers, far from Vilnius gangs reach, were bought in the woods of Trakai region... Nothing was easy, but over twenty years, 42 great men grew up out of St. John's children. Two dozens of them participated in the celebration. It was humbling to see them happy and grateful, now with their own families. Some came from abroad to be there with their friends and to once again come to the remote place, far from Vilnius city, where they grew up thanks to basketball, the brass band everyone played in, the nature in the woods, with a help of St.John's brothers, teachers and social workers, French craftsmen, and trips to France.
