Two Lithuanian Heritage Schools (Maironis in NY and Genys in CA) held fund-raising events in order to receive the Kazickas Family Foundation Matching Grant. KFF A. Kazickas Grant Program supports Lithuanian Heritage Schools in the US. Matching Grant (up to $1,000) motivates schools to organize fund-raising events in order to support their school work.
Maironis Lithuanian Heritage School in New York organized the Advent Fair. 16 kids planned the Fair, organized games, made hand-made crafts and were selling all the goods. 17 adults advertised the event, cooked, prepared and cleaned up afterwards. School was extremely excited to get so many volunteers to help.
Milda Palubinskas shared that people were very generous this year and shool collected $1,052. Matching grant was certainly an encouragement and they are extremelly grateful to Kazickas Family Foundation. Children were very proud of their job well done.
Genys Lithuanian Heritage School in California asked San Francisco Lithuanian community members to help school and donate money during the Fall Ball event that took place November 14th. It was announced: "As much as we like to have fun, we take seriously our responsibility to contribute to our non-party initiatives, so this year’s goal was to raise funds for our Saturday School Genys, which now has 14 teachers and 62 students (including 5 adults). Thanks to all those who donated during the evening, we collected $1,060 for Genys, which will be matched with another $1,000 by Kazickas Family Foundation to get Genys students tablets and some educational apps to bring fresh educational content to their classrooms."
