Adrijus Beniusis, the recipient of a prosthetic leg, walked the runway in a fashion show in Palanga, Lithuania "Jievaro tiltu 2015." Adrijus lost his leg to bone cancer in 2014. With a help from Prosthetics in Motion, Wiggle Your Toes, Ottobock, KFF and love and care of Marcie and John Kazickas he received his new prosthetic leg in May 2015.
On Dec. 10, The Globe, Lithuanian Artist Ray Bartkus's installation, was presented in the Exhibition Space at the Delegates entrance of the UN Headquarters. Mr. Jan K. Eliasson, Deputy Secretary - General of the UN presented the artwork and thanked Lithuania for its active role in the UN Security Council.
On December 10th, in Lithuania, Andrius Cerskus and Arminas Vareika from the "Power of Basketball"(social responsibility program sponsored by KFF) met with former President of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus. Success stories and good practices of the project were discussed during the meeting.
On November 28th, the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre Support Foundation "the Lyre of Orpheus", supported by Kazickas Family Foundation, held its annual traditional Opera Ball. All received funds will be distributed to support young opera soloists, ballet dancers and musicians.
Gabija, an ASSIST scholar at Stony Brook School, was visited by the KFF team members Neila Baumiliene and Ginte Geneder. The Kazickas Family Foundation sponsors three ASSIST scholars from Lithuania who are spending 2015-2016 school year in different US independent schools.
Three ASSIST program's scholars, Gabija, Arnas and Kipras, sponsored by Kazickas Family Foundation, are spending their 2015-2016 school year in the US independent schools. Three months into it they shared some of their experiences so far.
Two Lithuanian Heritage Schools (Maironis in NY and Genys in CA) held fund-raising events in order to receive the Kazickas Family Foundation Matching Grant. KFF A. Kazickas Grant Program supports Lithuanian Heritage Schools in the US. Matching Grant (up to $1,000) motivates schools to organize fund-raising events in order to support their school work.
Kaunas Biennial every other fall organizes three months lasting cultural and educational events. This fall together with the Kazickas Family Foundation's help it held events for people with various special needs.
Neila Baumiliene (KFF, US) and Paulius Paskevicius (Solid Education, Lithuania) spoke about providing online computer programming/coding learning opportunities to the participants (ages 10-17) of the Power of Basketball program.
Emma and Karissa, two US Youth Ambassadors through ExCEL Abroad program, supported by KFF, once again shared their latest experiences while living and studying in Lithuania for the 2015-2016 school year.
