Joseph and Alexandra's second-born son, Alexander Kestutis Kazickas, passed away while on a trip around the world in Kathmandu, Nepal in December, 1976. He was 22 years old.

Kazickas Post-Doctoral Fellowship at Yale University and Assistant Professor of History at the University of New Haven together with his colleague Matthew Schmidt shared an article honoring the Restoration of Lithuanian Independence with the LRT (Lithuanian National Radio and Television).
